NUTRITION
Why Nutrition Matters & How Nutrition Impacts Autism and ADHD
Children diagnosed with Autism are five times more likely to have mealtime challenges such as tantrums, extreme food selectivity, and ritualistic eating behaviors as well as have inadequate nutrition intake1. Chronic eating problems also increase a child's risk for social difficulties and poor academic achievement. The role of nutrition in reducing Autism and ADHD symptoms can often be overlooked by traditional physicians. Addressing nutrition, either through diet changes, supplementation (of nutrient-dense foods and specific micronutrients) or elimination (of allergens and additives) — or all of the above — can have substantial positive impacts on your child. Many parents report that removing or eliminating certain food items like casein (milk protein) and gluten (wheat protein) from their child's diets improved their child's autism symptoms, behavior, social skills, learning, and other related medical issues2.
